System operation modes

In order to provide the functionality described in the previous section, 1C:Enterprise offers two operation modes: 1C:Enterprise and Designer.

1C:Enterprise mode is the basic one, it allows end users to work with applied solutions. In this mode, users enter data, have them processed, and obtain the results.

Designer mode is used by developers and infobase administrators. This is the mode that provides the tools required to modify an applied solution or create a new one.

Since the purpose of this book is to teach you how to create applied solutions and customize third-party ones, the discussion that follows deals mainly with using the system in Designer mode. You will only run the system in 1C:Enterprise mode from time to time to check your work.

We assume that you already have 1C:Enterprise version 8.3 installed on your computer. If you do not have it yet, now is the time to install it, since the text that follows describes how to use 1C:Enterprise.
