Creating and opening text documents

To create a text document, on the main menu, point to File and click New. Then click Text document and click OK. This opens an empty document in the text editor.

To open a text document, point to File and click Open. This opens the standard file selection dialog box.

In this dialog box, select a text file. You can select the file format in the File type field.

Warning! If the document that you open is read-only, you cannot edit it. To learn whether it is read-only, on the main menu, point to Edit and click Properties. Then, in the list of properties, find the Status line. If it says Text open for reading, the document is read-only. If it says Text open for writing, you can edit the document.

You can create or open multiple documents, each in a new window.
