From September 22 to 27, the final of the international championship on technologies and skills of the future BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 was held in Kazan as part of the BRICS 2024 events. 130 experts and 190 contestants from 16 countries competed across 15 different skill categories. The 1C:Enterprise platform was chosen as the development standard for Business Process Automation, the skill category with the greatest international participation.
The 14 competing teams were divided into two tracks. The first track challenged experienced developers from Belarus, Vietnam, Colombia, Russia, El Salvador, and the Philippines to adapt the 1C:Company Management application for a distribution company. This involved assigning and tracking order statuses, creating new reports and document templates, and developing a mobile app that seamlessly synchronizes data with the server.
The second track provided beginner developers from China, Morocco, and South Africa with the challenge of building a small trading system. This involved automating key processes such as purchasing, warehousing, and sales, as well as generating comprehensive management reports.
Participants had the option to select from 24 platform interface languages, but the application user interfaces and code had to be in English, ensuring that international expert teams could assess their work. There were some amusing moments too; one Russian developer even mastered the Vietnamese interface during the contest.
Winners were determined using a "best from each country" format. The top-ranked experienced developers were:
- Roman Sergeev (Russia)
- Cristofer Damian Ordonez (Colombia)
- Do Thi Ngoc Huyen (Vietnam)
This championship gave me the opportunity not only to immerse myself in the field of business process automation and 1C technologies but also to learn more about another culture and make friends. I was pleasantly impressed by the contest tasks, the level of organization of the contest, and the safety. In addition, it gave me the opportunity to come to Russia for the first time, visit famous places, and try the local food.
Do Thi Ngoc Huyen, prize-winner of the Professional track from the Vietnam team.
And the top-ranked beginners were:
- Xu PengZhen (China)
- Issa El Khaoua (Morocco)
- Maluleke Moses (South Africa)

The BRICS Future Skills & Tech Challenge 2024 in Business Process Automation served as a key stage in the annual 1C Skills Camp international educational program. This program provides international students, teachers, and specialists with the opportunity to learn 1C technologies, including core platform objects, the 1C:Enterprise language, mobile development, and the international 1C:Company Management configuration.
A key objective of these international events is to foster collaboration, cultivate the ability to solve complex problems together in a multicultural environment and provide valuable opportunities for exchanging professional expertise and networking with like-minded individuals. To this end, the championship included discussions between delegations, tours, friendly dinners, and walks together through Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan.
One notable event for this category was a visit to a federal trading company, where contestants and experts experienced firsthand an enterprise resource management automation system based on 1C:ERP. This system covers a wide range of business processes in logistics, from picking orders to route optimization using a special geo-service, from order processing and assembly in warehouses to printing a set of documents for drivers. In discussions with the heads of the IT department and the implementation company, they explored professional questions relating to both the technical and organizational aspects of implementing such systems.
We could write volumes about the championship atmosphere, but the best way to experience it is through the photos and feedback from the participants themselves, which you'll find below.
The visit to the enterprise provided us with an opportunity to see the Business Process Automation with 1C Enterprise in action. We saw how reliable, flexible, and scalable the 1C platform is, and why large and medium-sized companies can greatly benefit from its use.

1C expresses its sincere gratitude to the International Center for Competencies at Kazan Technical School of Information Technologies and Communications, IBR LLC, and the championship organizers for their invaluable cooperation in preparing and holding this event. We also extend our thanks to all the dedicated teachers and students who are passionate about learning 1C technologies. The 1C community congratulates the winners and looks forward to future collaborations with all the finalists.
Here are some quotes that capture the spirit of the event:
Participating in the Business Process Automation competency at the BRICS championship offers several valuable benefits. It provides valuable hands-on experience through real-world case studies, giving participants a deeper understanding of effective business process automation and bridging the gap between theory and practice. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team encourages collaboration, improves communication skills, and fosters an understanding of different perspectives on problem-solving, all crucial for success in today's interconnected world. Furthermore, engaging with participants from various BRICS countries enhances cultural awareness and appreciation, essential in today's globalized business environment, broadening perspectives and promoting understanding. The skills and knowledge gained from this experience can lead to significant career advancement opportunities, including better job prospects, promotions, or new opportunities in various sectors, especially tech and business consulting. Finally, understanding how to implement automation can empower individuals and teams to innovate processes within their organizations, driving efficiency and reducing costs. In conclusion, the experiences gained and the lessons learned during such competitions can have a lasting impact, shaping participants' professional journeys and contributions to business process automation.

I think 1C presents a quick way to develop business solutions, where it focuses more on creating processes for the business, and not so much on creating forms from scratch. This means developers can focus on delivering results-oriented solutions tailored to the company's specific needs, automating processes with powerful development tools. What's more, 1C allows you to quickly deploy the same solution across three different platforms: desktop, mobile, and web. Participating in the championship gave us invaluable hands-on experience with a real-world system currently used by businesses. The tasks offered for the contest were useful for real life, not just for academic learning. This experience means that in the future, the participants will know how to approach a real problem and provide a solution that will serve the company.

The 1C:Enterprise platform holds significant promise for automating business processes in my country. There is a growing need among businesses, especially SMEs, to improve their operational efficiency and reduce costs, and 1C offers an accessible, scalable solution for achieving this. Given its flexibility and wide range of modules, it can be adapted to various industries, making it a strong contender for businesses looking to modernize. With increased awareness and support, 1C could play a pivotal role in the digital transformation of many companies.
