How to correct balance of an accumulation register?

I found that the balance of the accumulation register does not match the actual stock. And the problem is that one of old documents contain invalid quantity. What is the right way to correct this mistake?

You can change the document where the mistake is and repost all documents which depend on that document. Or you can create a document type which will write a correction register records if you do not want to change documents in previous period.
