Registers

Hello everyone. I am very new to 1C technologies.
Currently, I am studying 1C:enterprise v8 edition.
Can somebody explain me what are the registers(accumulation , information etc)? What are their purposes ? Can someone explain each of them in brief ? I have read the practical guide. But still not being able to distinguish them in between.

In short the accumulation register is designed to accumulate data for periods, for example turnovers of stock item quantity for a period while information register stores data that is chanted with time and you require only latest value for some date, for example prices.
