Hi everyone,
I’m a Software developer and have been working from home after the corona pandemic. The technical side is running fine, but what’s been tougher to handle is the long hours sitting in front of the screen. Lately, I’ve started experiencing back pain, most likely from poor posture during extended coding and debugging sessions.
I recently came across this guide on setting up an ergonomic home office, which gave me a few helpful ideas. But I’d like to hear from fellow developers here:
Could you please share how you manage extended coding sessions while avoiding posture or back issues?
Do you have any desk setups, tools, or daily habits that help you stay comfortable while working on XAMPP/PHP projects for hours?
I would love to learn how others in this community balance comfort with productivity.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Gulshan!

You touched upon a very important topic - the optimal organization of the developer's workplace.

I also work remotely, but it seems to me that both those who work in the office and those who work remotely - the principles of proper organization will be the same.

A couple of pieces of advice that I can give from myself:

A good big(!) monitor is a must. Even if you work on a laptop, connect an external monitor to it. Your eyes will thank you! If not now, then in a couple of years :-)

And get into the habit of getting up every half hour and just walking around. Ideally, you can do a little warm-up, but even just getting up and changing your position will be good. The thing is that when we sit in one position for a long time, it is very harmful to our spine.
In order not to forget to do a warm-up, you can either install some application on your computer, or use, for example, a smart watch.
