1C:Enterprise server cluster
The 1C:Enterprise server cluster is the main platform component in the client/server mode. It is a collection of processes, services, and utilities that serves a single set of infobases. The main function of the cluster is the execution of applications. It also provides fault tolerance and load balancing between working servers (while client applications are mostly focused on displaying user interface).
Alternatively to the client/server mode, the system can function in the file mode.
