The platform supports two operation modes: file mode and client/server mode. Applied solution behavior is identical in both modes.
- File mode
The file mode is intended for a single user or a small number of users in a local network. In this mode all Infobase data is stored in a single file (a file DBMS).
- Client/server mode
The client/server mode is intended for workgroups or entire enterprises. It is based on three-tier client/server architecture. In this mode the Infobase is stored in one of the supported database management systems, while a 1C:Enterprise server cluster provides interaction between the client application and the DBMS.
Operating systems
All core platform components can run both on Windows and Linux operating systems. Since the interaction between platform processes is performed using TCP/IP, the system can contain components that run on different operating systems. Learn more...
Internet access
The thin client and web client provide remote user access to an Infobase over the Internet. They use a web server with specific settings, which provides user interaction with a file database or a server cluster. Learn more...
System requirements
In any operation mode you have multiple software choices for computers where you run 1C:Enterprise applications. For details, see 1C:Enterprise 8 system requirements.
