If a journal contains documents of multiple types, the Create command opens a menu where you can select a document type.

The menu lists the document types that are displayed in the journal.
You can add documents without opening journals or document lists, provided that this function is available on the Create menu.
In the list of document types, select the required type. This opens the document creation form where you can enter the document attributes.
If a journal stores documents of a single type, the list of document types is skipped and the window where you can enter the document attributes is displayed.Next page: Specifying document date and time
