The aim of this guide is to give a brief overview on how to work with the general objects and tools of 1C:Enterprise 8 Platform. It will take you only a few hours to finish the guide and develop a sample application, Hello, 1C. This application is similar in its purpose to "Hello, World", that is the exercise, which you may have done when learning other programming languages.
The functionality of this application is much broader than the "Hello, World" that displayed text on the screen. However, you will do use the basics as a starting point in the world of 1C to introduce your capabilities of 1C:Enterprise 8.3.
Developing your first application will give you a chance to get acquainted with the basic features of 1C:Enterprise Platform and its development methodology. There are no great secrets apart fr om one: within a few minutes, with just a click or few, you can create a fully functional application for keeping your contacts and personal finances which will work with different DBMS (database management systems), Windows, Linux and even in a web browser and mobile devices.
Having downloaded the training version for free, anyone can repeat the application development process on his or her computer.
The third edition includes the description of new features implemented in 1C:Enterprise 8.3, which you can find in the Cross-platform design chapter.
